Paul Hawdon-artist-printmaker

Paul Hawdon

Paul Hawdon is an Artist and Printmaker based in Cambridge in the United Kingdom. His primary interest is in making etchings and drawings and he occasionally makes paintings.  Paul studied Fine Art at Saint Martin’s School of Art and the Royal Academy Schools of Art.  He was the holder of the Prix de Rome in Printmaking from 1988 to 89.  His work divides into two main areas; large symbolic, emotionally charged etchings and smaller etchings based on observation.  He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers (RE) and shows regularly at the Bankside Gallery, London.  He often shows at the RA Summer Exhibition and National Print Exhibition in London.  His work has won a number of prizes and is occasionally seen in mixed exhibitions.

Before going to art school, Paul Hawdon worked for the BBC and was one of the Studio Managers on the original radio series of ‘The Hitch-Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’.
